The aim of the project was to create an architectural solution for the building of the Academy of Arts, in the city of Niš, Serbia, with the location in the city center. The idea came from fact that the Academy does not have its own building, since its founding in 2002, but conducts classes and activities in several locations provided by other institutions, making it difficult and logisticaly complex for both students and staff. Afforementioned solution effectively answers all of the questions and solves numerous problems and specific needs, putting them finaly all under the same roof.
Building is shaped like a monolith, homogenic structure with dominant and clean volumetricks. Since it's represents the space that will house creative thinkers who will use their hands as a mean of creation turn ideas into reality, the building itself is shaped like a movement of the arms in creative moment (from birds-eye perspective). Materialisation is following the monumentality and tasks of the object, simple and clean – using concrete, glass and perforated aluminium panels. Basic forms and shapes used on the building are also used in arranging of the free space around the building, where clean and neat materials dominate, along with plenty of green surfaces and adequate amount of urban furniture of interesting forms.
